"Dodge at now" demo released at now!

I'm very proud to present this project made for the "RPG Maker Jam 2025", themed "beyond expectations".
This game is a mix between a tile-based RPG and a minigame game, where you'll have to dodge every enemy attack by playing a minigame on the battlefield. The usual Waldorf bonanza shenanigans.

Even if as always I end up starting a new project for a game jam instead of focusing on the games currently in progress. But I think it's a good thing, helps staying fresh.

Try it out!

Your titles are so cool! The look reminds me of Necrodancer, which I didn't get because I didn't think I'd be good at it... Hopefully I'll be better at this?

The difficulty is far from the one from "The Crypt of the Necrodancer", the only similarity is grid-based battles. For now the game is relatively easy, even if adding a Necrodancer mechanic in the full game could be an interesting idea...

Thanks! Code Shambler! Meta fun!

Mouse controlled movement seems "off"? My mouse doesn't have to go on the tile I'm aiming at? At least it's fast?

Him? I thought I was playing an elf girl. huh. That's what I get for not reading the description!

So, movement is arrow keys only? Not WASD?

Mouse is unfortunately not fully compatible, mostly for the absence of ways to input directions in certain moments.

I could fix it after the game jam version.

Oh, so I can't dodge the final Death, since there's nothing after that? Although I figured out how that game works at least.

I wonder what the potions I skipped do...

I skipped the monsters that guarded potions because I couldn't figure out how to save on command...

The demo ends regardless if you dodge it or not.

You can still return to the previous level and check for yourself. Unfortunately I didn't have time to program a save that wouldn't cause bugs.
