I dunno how that happened, I only returned to normal size.

Weird that it happens. The value is defined every time when you enter the big map.

Do you remember when you pressed the button to enter the big map?

Uh... I somehow teleported to a random corner of the world and can't figure out how to get back. I can tell that it was designed to be done intentionally, but I don't even know how I did it, and my last save was almost an hour ago...

Edit: nevermind. Clicking on something teleported me back, which let me figure out how i got teleported in the first place.

(1 edit)

I'm glad you found out you can get back with the airship. That area is an easter egg if you bug the game by spamming the world map button.

Very neat concept! It's very creative with how creating huge footprints in turn create new openings for you to reach new destinations.

However, a few nitpickers: I'm not too much a fan of Kalena's monologues that randomly occur when you go huge, it can kinda be a little distracting when you're trying to plan a route.

It's also a bit inconsistent with how the footprint sizes seem to stretch further depending on how you enter certain tiles, so the only real way to be sure how the footprints are going to end up is to use the 'X' button on every single tiles of the map and keep a note to yourself which tiles have a directional limitation implanted, which makes it overall a little tedious.

I think a free-cam mode during your "normal size" would really benefit with the process of planning your path.

Nevertheless, quite a fun and unique experience, it really makes  good use of the "size-changing power" I haven't seen that often in games.

(1 edit)

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I always try to make something original, especially by maintaining the plot or peculiarities of the characters in the gameplay itself. C:

I thought the extra banter when you go huge as some sort of "intermission" and funny bit before returning back to action. I can see the issue where they might pop out when you're focused on making a route to continue, but they're relatively short so I don't think they can be much of a nuisance overall.

For the footprint size I don't get what you mean with inconsistent. All the footprints follow the same rules: passing on the red line on the map and extending one extra tile in the direction you're moving.
Though I see the issue in having it harder to plan a path if you cannot check other regions as well. Yeah, I would say a freecam mode could've helped.

> Alice Magic - Inspiration

Knew it!

Ahahaha! Yeah, Alice Magic was crucial during the brainstorming of the game. It was vital especially while ideating the "even bigger" game mechanic, otherwise the game would've resulted much less deep in the gameplay.

Me. (Lying)

Thanks, ahahaha! I wanted to use the concept of size in the gameplay itself, and not only in the story. (that's usually how I make games - focusing on a peculiar kind of gameplay )

I'm doing my job at spreading big woman propaganda. XD

Those scenes where I broke the map spooked me pretty good, thankfully they're less scary when you learn who the 'monster' actually is. I hope.

Ahaha, it's a easter egg teasing a possible idea I had for the future.

What do you think the monster is? 👀

There's a bit at the end where The Mother says she's ALWAYS watching, and given the MC's fear of her, the choral music that plays whenever she's in any way present, and the general aloofness she seems to have about her it wouldn't surprise me if she was that monster.

Really fun game and cool puzzle mechanics. The game is also very easy to break irreparably though. I completely bricked my 44-minute-long autosave and 37-minute-long manual save. But I have done some testing so I am pretty sure of the cause. Basically, if you go into a town and press X, you get an error message telling you to go to the middle size to use it like you should, but if you, instead of dismissing it, press W, you go into the largest size and get teleported into unexplored areas. Sometimes you can escape from that state by walking from an unexplored area back into the world map, and the game continues as normal. But if you continually switch between the biggest size and the middle size in that state, some really strange behavior happens. On one of my saves, this completely broke it and made it so an error message appeared anytime I tried to switch to the biggest size, even though the save was made before I encountered the bug. I tried doing the same thing on a second save, though, and didn't get the error message like the first time, so it might be caused by something slightly different. I am going to keep experimenting a bit to see if I can reproduce it again, and will let you know if I can and what I did to get it to happen. The picture is of the error that bricked my first save. If you need anything else to pinpoint the source of the bug let me know and I will see what I can do.

Update it seems the save destroying error previously mentioned happens if you try and enter the largest size while being in an unexplored area. This was very consistent in a save where I had already moved myself into an unexplored area, then tried to reload the save and switch to the biggest size.

Also, I believe the reason my first save is bricked is because, despite the fact that I am currently in an explored area, I previously, in that save, triggered the glitch and entered an unexplored area but was able to walk out of it back into an explored one and continue playing. I forgot that I had done that when I wrote the last comment, so to correct myself, the save was made after I had glitched into an unexplored area, not before I encountered it. Since I glitched into an unexplored area previously in the game upon reloading the save, anytime I try to switch to the biggest size, I get the error message despite being currently in an explored area.

Wow, thanks a lot for the very trough exploration of the bug! I'll definitely have to update the game to fix this bug.

Also, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Hello again! Thanks to your detailed bug log, I managed to find the bug that was present in the last version.

Now your saves might be usable again, let me know! C:

Good news it works now! My old saves are no longer bricked and the fail safe seems to be functioning properly. Glad I got to see the failsafe as well. Thanks for getting it fixed so quickly.

I keep refreshing my page and entering the game but it keeps saying "step matrix is not defined" do you know what to do?

(1 edit)

Weird, it never happened to anyone else. It's the code that gives priority to the wrong function. I suppose I have to update the game after those reports.
Thanks for letting me know. In the meantime I would suggest playing the desktop version if you can. c:

(+1)

Haha, I loved this. Short little puzzle game. Brilliant concept, very original. 10/10

Thanks, it makes me happy to hear that! Thanks for letting me know your appreciation! C:

there is actaly something wrong with my world map ;(

(1 edit)

I was not lying. C:

...

But yeah, I suppose I didn't fix it. How did you reach this situations?

(2 edits)

I got to the point where you are suppose to sneak out of the town but when I left the town that happned <------------btw I can't spell some words (P.S its still happening)

(+1)

it seems like you fixed it

Not really, I didn't manage to update the game at the end. :(
But I never got this error in the multiple times I tested, so it hopefully only happens on a specific situation.
In any case I'll look into it when I find time C:

Cool ideas, fun puzzles (although it'd be even better if the continental map showed where you return to), and a bangin' soundtrack to go with it all. A great experience!

(1 edit)

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I realize that is definitely something the player should know to make for a more fair puzzle experience. I don't think I'll add it, but it's surely something to keep in mind for the future, thanks!

(+1)

Fantastic game, congrats on the cool idea and great implementation, worth every second

Thanks a lot! C:

(1 edit) (+1)

You can "break" the game spamming W and resizing very fast It would be better if you could get another bigger state

Thanks for letting me know. I thought I solved it in the previous update. I'll see if I can find the cause.

I think I found a way to break the game

this is small:

big is somewhere down left of the map

(2 edits) (+1)

Thanks for reporting. Where did you do it?  By bugging this part the game should default you to the upper left corner where there is a easter egg/failstate, weird it happened in another place.

(+1)

I made a video of your game.

(+1)

Nice! I see that you managed to solve puzzles relatively quickly, and also skipped the secondary south area.

Thanks for making a video! C:

There is a message that doesn't let me go down intothe lava land

(+1)

Lavaland is not accessible until you reach the fortress. Also you can't walk on it while on big form.

When in doubt, you should go where the flag is.

(+1)

just started playing today! it took me a bit to figure out the controls, but i really enjoy this game! :3

(+1)

Thanks, I hope you'll have a BIG time! C:

(+1)

Very nice concept. Good luck

Thanks! C:

I love it. Wish there would be more RPG elements though a bit like in Alice Magic episode. E.g. you can either fight challange head on for loot or consider enemy just a stepping stone in your yourney (sorry for pun).

(+2)

(Pun appreciated) Thanks! With RPG elements it would become a completely different game though, and there's the risk of putting the puzzle mechanics in the background. I prefer to avoid RPG battles since there is a lot of effort required to do them right, and at the end an interesting battle system for a short game may also feel wasted.

Hi! I really like this game but can only play it on the browser, would it be possible to add a Linux download option?

(2 edits)

Hello! Unfortunately I never deployed for Linux, and the engine has no native support for it.
For the moment though I just now uploaded a new version that's almost runnable, it just needs this extra program.

oh that's so sick! thank you so much!

Very creative game and I liked the puzzles!

Nice! Thanks for playing! C:

(1 edit) (+1)

where is the game?
theres a bug that mean:
Failed to initialize graphics.

Unfortunately there's a browser bug of that kind sometimes. Luckily it doesn't appear every time you launch it, even if I thought I solved it. Thanks!

(1 edit)

Nope, I'm having downloaded the game and still it doesn't work. Look if you have any linecode or something wrong referenced or something, because for example, the direct link in Game.exe has this route "D:\Download\Something's wrong with my World Map v1.1.2\Content folder" and I haven't a D disk.

Pd: I runned Game.exe from Content folder and It's still having trouble

(3 edits)

Umm... I think it might be a problem related to something more technical like a driver (which maybe needs an update?). I don't think there's a lot I can do but I'll still look into it.

In this case I suggest falling back to the browser version: it's also playable on smartphone if needed.

(+1)

Thanks so much for making this game! I loved the puns and the unconventional mechanics. It's definitely in my favourite puzzle games :D

Thanks, I really appreciate your comment! I always love to create new concepts and jokes, so I'm happy it landed for you! C:

You know that I was expecting  a GTS game, but soon I found that it’s very interesting! And Kalena is cute. She’s wearing boots but leaving barefoot footprints. It’s kinda weird, but I like that.

BTW I’m willing to translate the game into Chinese, but I’m not sure if I have such abilities and times to do so. My English is not actually good.

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

It would be an honor to have the game translated, but there are lots of puns and wordplays that might be hard to understand and translate. (But I can provide an explanation for each of them if needed)

If you're interested you can write me at parawaldorf@gmail.com or discord (@rpgwaldorf)

(+1)

The screen says failed to initialize graphics. I checked for updates on my PC and used compatibility settings and checked for driver updates and still nothing worked.

All the other RPG makers I have worked. why isn't yours working?

If it's the web version, it's not optimized unfortunately - but it's only a temporary error. While for desktop version it never happened, that's weird.

In both cases though, maybe trying again might work. Thanks for letting me know!

(+1)

It's a fun game, though the puzzles are quite tricky.

Thanks! Yeah, I enjoy making puzzles that are not completely straightforward, hoping they are still entertaining.

(1 edit) (+1)

I really appreciate that you had multiple puzzles open at once, I was working on how to get to the ice temple but just couldn't get it, so tried other things, and when I came back I realized the trick I was missing.

It would be really interesting to see more meta powers like this based on the rumors.

Thanks! Actually this game is set in the same game world of "That's my Exploit Keeper!", which is a game heavily focused on those meta powers. Be wary though that it's a pretty hard puzzle game.

(+1)

When people talk about a "fun, short, well-realized game," this is the kind of game they're talking about. If anything, I was left wanting an extra 30 minutes of runtime, if only for more cute remarks on our cute protagonist's part about her massive size.

Ahahah, thanks! I didn't really want to add too many puzzle after a certain point to avoid becoming too repetitive or frustrating. The initial idea for the final puzzle was to activate all temples at once, but I settled for the most accessible (but still thought-inducing) option.

I had a lot of fun writing the banters. XD

(+1)

I had a lot of fun playing this game. But is there only one ending or another ending?

Thanks! Yeah, there's only one ending.

(+1)

yeah wow this game is great

love the humor, the puzzles, and the gameplay, and the mechanics weren't super convoluted.

also the random extra bits of dialogue are great; thank you for not making every interact dialogue just "I can't do that."

Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun writing the dialogues. C:

(+1)

ok so idk how I missed that with the pyramid but yeah. Then again I wanted to crush it the entire time

I feel lost and confused on what to do

You might find some direction on what to do from the story, or just by exploring around.

If you need help, there is a game guide here.

(+1)

thank you

A lot of fun! Great game, until it glitched, and when reloading, i accidentally clicked new game (skill issue on my part)

Surprised how many big size lines there are, didn't get repetitive in the 15-30 mins i played

Thanks! Can I ask where the game glitched exactly?

(1 edit)

What a fun game. level design and sense of humor. damn.

I made an account just to review this game lol

Ahaha, thanks! I really appreciate that!

If you liked the humor, I suggest you to check out the game I'm actually developing!

You can get to the snow area via the capital. Making the whole southwestern part of the map skipable.

(1 edit)

Yes, you can. But you'll not miss a lot and it doesn't cause any sequence break.

Leaving the village for the second time results in a picture of the sky which apparently the game is still running underneath. This was with the web version.

Thanks for reporting, that never happened to me. What do you mean with "leaving the village for the second time"? I suppose after returning after being blocked by the watchtower. Did you leave from the main road or from the back/side?

(+1)

Yes, it happened after the MC talked about sneaking out of the village when she was younger. I tried going out the back as it said and got the sky image.

Weird, it's probably because it tries to zoom too much, but it shouldn't at that moment. I'll look into it, but it shouldn't happen more than once, I hope. Thanks!

There is a bug with on-screen buttons (if you click on them with mouse or touch on the phone/tablet):
1) If you press any button while not on the world map, you'll move one step west/north.
2) If you try to leave the world map, you'll make an extra step west/north (or try to make -- if there is no space west/north, you will be softlocked and need to restart the game).
3) The hint button doesn't work.
4) If you enter the world map, the locked area will not be grayed out.

Tested on the web version 1.1.0 on Android (Firefox, Chrome, Mitch) and Windows (Firefox, Edge)

Despite this, I was still able to reach the lava island, and I quite enjoyed the game. Keep it up!

Thanks for reporting. Unfortunately I didn't test the touch version other than the basic functioning: I'll see if I can work around those problems. I'm happy you enjoyed the game despite its problems!

Update: the bugs have been fixed!
